AtlantaPFS Weekly Update
ποΈ June 28 β July 4 β Thank You for an Awesome Free RPG Day!
Huge thanks to the venues, players, and GMs who came out for Free RPG Day this past Saturday at Level-Up Games in Dawsonville. Tables were full, new players rolled their first dice, and that’s exactly what organized play is all about. Thank you all for making it happen.
Now β we need to talk seriously about DragonCon and Southern-Fried Gaming Expo. Volunteer numbers for both are behind where they need to be, and for DragonCon especially, the situation is dire. See immediately below β we need you.
On the Paizo restructuring front: nothing new to report this week. Details further down.
π STOP. READ THIS. DRAGONCON NEEDS YOU.
We are now in the final month of DragonCon scheduling, and there are still people who volunteer every single year who have not signed up for 2026. That has to change starting today.
The volunteer roster locks on July 31. That is all the runway we have left. Every week without new sign-ups makes it more likely that tables β including the Battle of Hellknight Hill cinematic run β simply don’t happen this year.
π Sign Up Now β Five Minutes, Please ππ¨ Paizo Restructuring β Continued Coverage
π£ Still Nothing New to Report
Another week, another update where we genuinely have nothing new to share. We have not received any additional public information from Paizo since the June 8 statement, and as Venture-Officers we are not in a position to speculate beyond what’s already public β nor would that help anyone. The moment something new is made public, you’ll hear it from us as fast as we’re able to put it together. That’s still a promise.
We know two quiet weeks in a row doesn’t make the uncertainty any easier to sit with. Thank you for your patience, and thank you for continuing to show up at the table while we all wait this out together.
π’ Current Announcements & Updates
π₯οΈ Fantasy Grounds Unity: Scheduled All the Way Through November
Quick update for our VTT players: the Starfinder Society Fantasy Grounds Unity schedule now runs through Season 2, Scenario 5 β that’s a full slate of games scheduled all the way through November.
Seats are filling up quickly. If you’ve been meaning to jump in, now is the time to grab a spot before the good slots are gone. Sign-ups for FGU games specifically are on Warhorn here.
π Atlanta Lodge Virtual Games β Update
Fantasy Grounds Starfinder Society games are now in full swing on a real, ongoing schedule (see above).
If you were playing in one of the Atlanta-run virtual games that wrapped up last month, the official Organized Play Online Region is a great place to keep playing: temp Discord invite here. Questions, reach out to James R.
This has no impact on the Columbus lodge’s virtual offerings, which continue as normal through the shared Warhorn event page.
π We Need to Talk About DragonCon
π DragonCon 2026 β Final Month. We Need Bodies, Now.
DragonCon 2026: September 3β7, 2026 β Labor Day Weekend, Atlanta, GA
We are not going to soften this: we are coming into the final month of scheduling, and there are still a number of people who normally volunteer year after year who have not signed up yet for 2026. We need that to change today, not next week.
Here’s why the timing matters, concretely: to give DragonCon leadership the lead time they need to build the schedule grid and open ticket presales a month out, our volunteer roster has to be finalized and submitted by July 31. Every week that passes without new sign-ups makes it more likely that tables β including the Battle of Hellknight Hill cinematic run β simply don’t happen this year.
This isn’t a “someday” ask. This is a “we need you to fill out a five-minute form today” ask.
- GMs β for regular scenarios, the Battle of Hellknight Hill special, and everything in between
- HQ Staff β the backbone of the operation; without you, nothing else works
- Anyone who can give even one or two slots β every single commitment moves us closer to a real schedule

π² Southern-Fried Gaming Expo 2026 β Steve H Still Needs Hands
July 31 β August 2, 2026 β The Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center
We’re a little over a month out, and Steve H is still actively building the volunteer roster for AtlantaPFS’s presence at Southern-Fried. If you can give HQ or GM time July 31βAugust 2, now’s a great time to claim a slot before they fill up. Updates and open needs are posted in a dedicated channel on the AtlantaPFS Discord:
π Venue Reminder: East Atlanta Comics Dice City Entry Fee
Just a reminder that the per-person table fee at East Atlanta Comics Dice City in Atlanta is $10 per person. Plan accordingly when attending events at this venue. We appreciate their continued support of organized play in the Atlanta area.
ποΈ In Memoriam: Lee McLurkin
We continue to hold space for the memory of Lee McLurkin, whose loss touched so many in our community. A fitting tribute is being prepared for DragonCon later this year, and a memorial will be added to our Hall of Heroes once complete. Our thoughts remain with his family and all who knew him.
π Hall of Heroes
Visit our Hall of Heroes page to honor those we’ve lost from our gaming community.
π¬ Rocky Horror Picture Show Night β Poll Still Open!
We’re still collecting availability for our AtlantaPFS outing to The Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Plaza Theatre on Ponce de Leon Avenue. If you haven’t filled out the poll yet, please do β more responses means a better date for everyone. We’re personally leaning toward October once the dust from DragonCon has settled, but all input is welcome.
WhenIsGood: AtlantaPFS Invades the Rocky Horror Picture Show
This social event is open to the wider GeorgiaPFS and Appalachian Region community. Costumes and callbacks are strongly encouraged.
π Regional Roundup β Appalachian Region News
π Columbus May Be Expanding to a Second Venue
Exciting potential news out of Columbus, GA: a second local venue has reached out expressing interest in hosting Pathfinder and Starfinder Society games, and reportedly already has GMs lined up and eager to start running tables. Nothing is locked in yet, but if it comes together, Columbus could go from one venue to two. We’ll share more details as they firm up β stay tuned.
π Morgantown, WV Lodge β CharCon Is Less Than Two Weeks Away!
The Morgantown, West Virginia lodge continues its regular schedule of Pathfinder and Starfinder Society sessions at Wyvern’s Wargames, and is gearing up for the lodge’s first convention appearance at CharCon β July 10β12 at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences in Charleston, WV. That’s less than two weeks out. If you’re in or near the Charleston area that weekend and can help support organized play, reach out to Joel H or through the GeorgiaPFS Discord.
π₯ Chattanooga Takes a Step Closer to Reopening
Good movement in Chattanooga, TN this week β someone has stepped up to help get the lodge going again, and we’re now just waiting on details from them before we can share more. Nothing official yet, but it’s real progress. If you’re in the Chattanooga area and want to be part of getting it going again β as a player, GM, or potential Venture-Officer β now’s a great time to reach out.
Urgent: Venture-Officer Opening in Charleston, WV
We are still actively recruiting to establish a brand-new lodge in the Charleston, WV area. Help build something new and be the reason a whole community of players finds organized play. Interested? Reach out through the GeorgiaPFS Discord or at rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.
π GalaxyCon Events β Awaiting Confirmation
We’re still awaiting word from GalaxyCon regarding Pathfinder/Starfinder Society presence at this year’s shows, including the Raleigh event. Organized Play leadership has reached out and the door remains open, but as we get closer to show dates without confirmation, the lead time needed to stand up a full organized play presence gets tighter. If you were planning around PFS/SFS at a GalaxyCon event this year, it’s worth keeping a backup plan in mind. We’ll share an update as soon as we have one.
We Need Players and GMs β Especially Here
A few lodges are in particular need of additional support right now:
- Mebane, NC β Tables are running but could use more consistent turnout and GMing support.
- Charlotte, NC β A major metro area that deserves more organized play presence.
- Memphis, TN β Western Tennessee organized play needs both players and GMs to stay visible.
- Nashville, TN β Strong potential, needs more regular GM support to grow the schedule.
