It was a challenging start to the month with icy weather forcing a last-minute reschedule, but the Atlanta Pathfinder Lodge still showed up in force at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest this past weekend. Despite travel disruptions and some unavoidable scheduling conflicts from the date change, we were able to fill nearly 100% of our tables. It is a testament to the dedication of our local gaming community.
The Games and Growth
We maintained an active schedule throughout the weekend with a focused run of Pathfinder and Starfinder sessions:
- Starfinder Society (SFS2e):
- Invasion’s Edge (#1-01)
- Disaster at Dreamlink Labs (#1-03)
- Magic in the Mist (#1-06)
- Seize and Destroy (#1-07)
- Compliance Protocol (#1-08)
- Pathfinder Society (PFS2e):
- Shipyard Sabotage (#7-02)
- Battle of the Thorns (#7-05)
- The Haunted Corridor (#7-08)
The highlight of the weekend was the diversity of players at the tables. We welcomed many new faces, several of whom stayed for multiple sessions and registered for their official Paizo Organized Play IDs. Most notably, several of these new players have already officially joined Atlanta PFS, ensuring the Lodge continues to grow with fresh talent and enthusiasm.
We also saw a strong showing from our experienced players. Having them participate in multiple sessions and share their passion for the game with new players created exactly the kind of positive experience we want everyone to have when they play with the Lodge.
Recognition and Convention Highlights
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported the Lodge this weekend, including Harrison Fisk, Alex Hartley, Andrew Roberts, Brooke Pinion, and Vince Westin. We also owe a massive thank you to our GMs—Josh Caldwell, Will Hagin, and Steve Herron—who adjusted their personal schedules to ensure these games moved forward after the postponement.
Beyond the tables, the convention itself was excellent. Shannon DeWitt, Ari Fodeman, and the ATLRPG team provided exceptional support throughout the weekend. The Atlanta Marriott Northwest continues to be an ideal venue; the hospitality was top-notch, the space was comfortable, and the free parking was a significant benefit for those transporting heavy gear, games, and gear.
Between sessions, many took advantage of the Boardgame Library, which offered an extensive selection to choose from, or explored the many other options available at the convention. We also enjoyed connecting with the team from War Glamour at the Paint & Take station; they are fantastic people and provided a great experience for members. Additionally, the convention featured several excellent guest speakers, and the Sunday flea market provided a perfect opportunity for attendees to find great deals on board games.
