AtlantaPFS Weekly Update
๐ฎ Discord Upgrades, Regional News & Gaming This Week! ๐
Greetings, Pathfinders and Starfinders! This week brings important updates to our Discord community and marks the debut of our new Regional Corner. We’ve completed major infrastructure improvements to our Discord server that will enhance your experience, and we’re introducing a new section to keep you connected with organized play across the entire Appalachian Region. Plus, we have great games scheduled throughout the week. Let’s dive in! ๐โจ
๐ข Current Announcements & Updates
๐ฎ Thank You for Visiting Us at Multiverse!
Thank you to everyone who came out to see us at Multiverse on Saturday, October 18th at the Hilton Peachtree City! We appreciate your support and hope to see you at future events.
๐ฌ Discord Server Upgrade – Infrastructure Complete!
Great news! We’ve completed major infrastructure upgrades to our Discord server. The new role-based system is now live and ready to provide you with a more personalized, organized experience.
What’s Changed:
- Role-Based Channel Access: You’ll now see only the channels that match your interests and gaming preferences
- Better Organization: Channels are now organized by region, gaming format, and game system
- New Help Resources: Visit our new #help channel for assistance and #faq channel for answers to common questions
- Improved Security: Enhanced protection against spam and unwanted disruptions
What You Need to Do:
- Visit #role-selection in our Discord server
- Choose your roles from each category:
- Gaming Role (Player, GM, Venue, Vendor, and/or Convention/Event Staff)
- Region (where you game – you can select multiple)
- Format (Brick & Mortar, VTT, and/or Play-by-Post)
- Systems (Pathfinder and/or Starfinder)
- Enjoy your customized experience!
Important Timeline:
- Now through January 15: Education and setup period – select your roles at your convenience
- January 16: Role selection becomes required
- January 19: Full enforcement begins – members without selected roles will only see #role-selection and #help
Don’t worry! You can change your roles anytime, and selecting roles now ensures you won’t lose access to channels when enforcement begins in January. If you play multiple systems or formats, feel free to select all that apply. Questions? Visit our new #help channel or reach out to any VO or Admin on the server.
๐บ๏ธ Regional Corner – Appalachian Region
This is a new feature we’re testing until our regional hub website launches. We’ll use this space to share news and updates from across the Appalachian Region.
About the Appalachian Region
As Regional Venture-Coordinator, I oversee organized play across the Appalachian Region, which encompasses six states: Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. This region is home to numerous lodges and gaming communities working together to provide amazing Pathfinder and Starfinder experiences.
The RVC role involves supporting Venture-Captains and their teams across the region, identifying new opportunities for organized play, coordinating regional initiatives, and serving as a liaison with Paizo Organized Play leadership.
Regional News & Highlights
Durham Becomes Independent Lodge: Congratulations to Durham, North Carolina on becoming its own independent lodge! We’re thrilled to announce that Alex W has been promoted to Venture-Captain to lead this growing community. Welcome to the leadership team, Alex, and best wishes for the Durham lodge’s continued success!
Asheville Scarefest This Weekend: A number of our regional Venture-Officers are heading to Asheville Scarefest in North Carolina this weekend to run Pathfinder and Starfinder games. We wish them a fun and memorable time representing the Appalachian Region!
Chattanooga Lodge Interest Growing: We’ve been seeing renewed interest in reopening the Chattanooga, Tennessee lodge. I’ll have more updates as things progress, but it’s exciting to see potential growth in our regional organized play community!
Cookeville Lodge Celebrates 8 Years! The Cookeville, Tennessee lodge is celebrating an incredible milestone. In 8 years, they have:
- Played with 135 people
- Run 482 games
- Run games at 3 stores
- Run games at one local convention
- Run games for 3 virtual conventions
- Raised hundreds of dollars for Toys for Tots
