AtlantaPFS Weekly Update

🌷 Late-April Push – Donuts, DragonCon, and Regional Growth 🎲

Greetings, Pathfinders and Starfinders! As we roll into the final days of April, our schedule is a little lighter on games but very busy behind the scenes with new tools, convention recruiting, and regional growth across the Appalachian Region.

This week, we are officially launching the Game System “Donuts” leaderboard, pushing DragonCon recruiting as hard as we can, and highlighting some important Venture-Officer and lodge opportunities in our Regional Roundup. Let’s dive in!

📢 Current Announcements & Updates

🍩 AtlantaPFS Game System “Donuts” – Leaderboard Now Fully Live

A few weeks ago, after a great discussion in the GMs-only channel on Discord about tracking “donuts” (table counts) for each game system, we quietly rolled out a new tool on the AtlantaPFS website. We tested it with a couple of Atlanta Venture-Officers, and now it is time for a full, public launch.

You can find the new AtlantaPFS Game System “Donuts” page here:

On that page, click on “Submit/Update” to send in your GM table counts for review.

  • Manually input the table counts for each game system where you have acted as a GM.
  • Upload:
    • An image from the GM/Event Coordinator tab of My Organized Play that shows your table counts.
    • A screenshot from the Summary tab that includes your OP ID and your “You are a <whatever> GM” text.
  • Your submission will come to me for review and approval, and once approved, you will appear on the leaderboard for that game system.

This has been working well in testing, and now we need you to help fill it out. If you have GMed any Pathfinder or Starfinder Society tables, please take a few minutes to submit your data and help us recognize the work our GMs put into the campaign.

🐉 DragonCon 2026 – This Is the Big One, and We Cannot Do It Without You

DragonCon 2026: September 3-7, 2026 (Labor Day Weekend)

DragonCon is our largest convention of the year and the flagship organized play event for the Appalachian Region. It is five days of wall-to-wall gaming, thousands of attendees, and one of the biggest opportunities we have to showcase Pathfinder and Starfinder Society to the wider gaming community.

We are past the “it would be nice if you volunteered” stage. We need GMs and HQ staff, and we need them now. The strength of our DragonCon schedule—how many tables we can run, how many systems we can support, and how ambitious we can be—depends directly on how many volunteers step up early.

Help us field The Battle of Hellknight Hill and beyond: Our current DragonCon 2026 plan includes a big, cinematic run of The Battle of Hellknight Hill alongside our regular Pathfinder and Starfinder Society offerings. That plan only works if we have enough GMs to support it. If you want to see a full, robust schedule at DragonCon, the most important thing you can do right now is volunteer.

Why you should volunteer:

  • Make DragonCon happen: Without enough GMs and HQ staff, we simply cannot offer the breadth and depth of games players expect.
  • Choose your slots early: Early volunteers get first pick of time slots and can shape their convention experience.
  • Support the Appalachian Region: DragonCon is our regional showcase—your table may be the first Society experience for players from all over the country.
  • Be part of the team: You will be working alongside an experienced crew of volunteers, VOs, and convention staff who are committed to making this the best year yet.

Ready to join the DragonCon crew?

Fill out the DragonCon 2026 Volunteer Form TODAY. The earlier you commit, the more we can do with the space and schedule we are given.

Questions? Reach out to Joel H through the GeorgiaPFS Discord or contact loki.the.mischievous@gmail.com.

Please do not assume “someone else” will cover it. If you think you might be available for even a few slots, sign up now so we can plan around you and build the best possible event.

📰 Bridging the Gap 2026 – Online Region’s Alternative to PaizoCon

May 22-25, 2026 (Memorial Day Weekend)

Event Highlights:

  • VTT Games: May 22-25 across multiple virtual tabletops.
  • Play-by-Discord/Post: Games continuing through August 14.
  • Multi-table Specials: Including support for PF1, PF2, and Starfinder.

🌐 Virtual Gaming Policy Updates – Local Player Priority

Important Changes to Virtual Play Sign-Ups!

To keep our communications clear and aligned with Organized Play standards, the Atlanta and Columbus lodges are making important updates to how we handle virtual gaming. Here’s what’s changing:

Terminology Update: “Virtual” vs “Online”

We will officially use the term Virtual for all our non-physical table offerings. While the Online Region handles “Online” branding for their global games, our lodge-specific virtual games will be clearly labeled as Virtual to avoid confusion.

Early Sign-Up Rights for Local Players

At the request of Organized Play leadership and local players, we are implementing Early Sign-Up Rights for Atlanta and Columbus lodge members on most virtual games, as well as access to lodge-specific local events (such as parties, specials, and other member exclusives).

How to Claim Your Local Lodge Role

To ensure you get priority access and member status for virtual games, you need to register for your Atlanta or Columbus lodge role on our Warhorn:

  1. Navigate to the AtlantaPFS Warhorn Page
  2. Select “Email the event staff”
  3. In your message, provide:
    • Account Verification: Your Warhorn Name (and email associated with the account, if different)
    • Lodge Designation: Which lodge you belong to (Atlanta or Columbus)

A Note on Processing

This is a manual process that cannot be automated at this time. While we have several staff members, all emails are routed to a single point of contact for processing. Please be patient as we manually update these roles—we’ll get you cleared as quickly as possible!

Important: These specific roles and sign-up windows currently apply to games and events managed on the AtlantaPFS Warhorn hub. Individual GMs may set their own early sign-up windows, so check each game listing for specific details.

🎮 Expanded Virtual Gaming Schedule!

More opportunities to play from home!

We’ve expanded our virtual gaming schedule to provide more flexibility and gaming opportunities throughout the week:

  • Atlanta Virtual Games: Now running on Tuesday AND Wednesday evenings
  • Columbus Virtual Games: Running on Thursday evenings

Whether you prefer weeknight gaming, can’t make it to physical venues, or just enjoy the convenience of playing from home, we now have multiple virtual options each week. Check our schedule below for this week’s virtual offerings!

🕊️ In Memoriam: Lee McLurkin

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Lee McLurkin. Lee was a valued member of our gaming community, and his loss has left many of us stunned and grieving.

Lee’s presence at our tables will be deeply missed. We are working to create a fitting tribute to honor his memory, which will be unveiled at DragonCon later this year. A memorial for Lee will be added to our Hall of Heroes once we’ve put together the tribute he deserves.

Our thoughts are with Lee’s family, friends, and all who knew him. The gaming table is a little emptier without him.

🏆 Hall of Heroes

Visit our Hall of Heroes page to honor and remember those we’ve lost from our gaming community. This memorial page celebrates the lives and legacies of lodge members who are no longer with us. Check it out from the member area menu.

🎬 Rocky Horror Picture Show Night – Help Pick the Date!

AtlantaPFS Invades The Plaza!

It is finally happening—our long-threatened Rocky Horror social is moving from joke to reality. We are planning an AtlantaPFS outing to a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Plaza Theatre on Ponce de Leon Avenue, and we want to make sure as many of you as possible can join in the chaos.

To help lock in the best date, please take a moment to fill out the availability poll:

WhenIsGood: AtlantaPFS Invades the Rocky Horror Picture Show

This social event is open to anyone in the wider GeorgiaPFS and Appalachian Region community who is willing to make the trip. Costumes, callbacks, and general time-warp shenanigans are highly encouraged—more details will follow once we have a clear read on availability.

🌄 Regional Roundup – Appalachian Region News

New Appalachian Region Social Media

The Paizo Organized Play Appalachian Region now has its own social media presence so you can keep up with regional news and events:

Regional & National Calendar Improvements

The Regional and National Calendar on the Appalachian Region hub has been updated to make it easier to see what conventions, special events, and major game days are coming up across the region, with more improvements still in progress.

What’s Coming Next on the Hub

Once the calendar work is finished, the next upgrades on the Appalachian Region site will include an improved lodge directory and interactive state maps to showcase venue locations for each area. Additional behind-the-scenes tools are also being developed to help Venture-Officers coordinate games and events more effectively.

Regional VO and Lodge Opportunities – Chattanooga, Charleston WV, and Beyond

We have some important leadership and lodge opportunities across the region that we want to highlight this week.

  • Chattanooga, TN: The Venture-Lieutenant overseeing the Chattanooga lodge has stepped down. We are actively looking for new Venture-Officers in the Chattanooga area to help support and grow Organized Play there.
  • Charleston, WV: We are recruiting to start up a lodge in the Charleston, West Virginia area. If you are local (or know someone who is) and interested in helping build a new community, please reach out.
  • Ongoing Need for Players and GMs: We are always looking for more players and GMs at all of our lodges, but some locations especially benefit from additional support and regular attendance, including:
    • Mebane, NC
    • Charlotte, NC
    • Memphis, TN

If you live near any of these lodges—or are willing to travel periodically—your participation can make a real difference in keeping tables firing and keeping the campaign visible in those areas. Please get in touch if you are interested in helping as a player, a GM, or as a potential Venture-Officer.

Regional Volunteer Call – Spring and Summer 2026

The Appalachian Region is currently recruiting GMs and HQ staff for multiple regional events, including two happening next weekend. If you are interested in helping beyond Atlanta, check out the regional call for volunteers here:

📅 Upcoming Events

📚 Free RPG Day 2026 – June 27

Free RPG Day: Saturday, June 27, 2026

Free RPG Day is an annual event where participating local game stores offer free roleplaying game products and often host special events to introduce players to new systems and adventures.

Local participating stores (as of now):

  • Giga-Bites Tabletop Cafe (Marietta)
  • Level-Up Games – Alpharetta
  • Level-Up Games – Duluth
  • Level-Up Games – Dawsonville

This list may grow as more retailers sign up. For the most up-to-date list of participating stores, use the official store locator at https://freerpgday.com/gamers.

🎪 MomoCon 2026 – Schedule Submitted, Details Coming Soon

MomoCon 2026: May 21-24, 2026 – Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, GA

Our AtlantaPFS organized play schedule for MomoCon 2026 has been submitted, and we are excited to bring Pathfinder and Starfinder Society back to one of Atlanta’s biggest fan conventions.

Important note about sign-ups and fees:

  • Game registration for MomoCon will be handled through tabletop.events, not Warhorn.
  • MomoCon has moved to a per-game charge model for scheduled events this year. These fees are set and collected by MomoCon and tabletop.events, not by AtlantaPFS or the Organized Play program.
  • We will share links and additional details as soon as the tabletop.events schedule goes live.

Keep an eye on the GeorgiaPFS Discord #momocon channel and the Appalachian Region calendar for updates as we get closer to Memorial Day weekend.

🎲 Southern-Fried Gaming Expo 2026 – AtlantaPFS Support Planned

Southern-Fried Gaming Expo: July 31 – August 2, 2026 – The Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center

AtlantaPFS is planning to support Southern-Fried Gaming Expo again this year with organized play offerings. Details are still being finalized, but this convention is a great chance to mix board games, pinball, classic arcades, and tabletop RPGs all in one place.

Stay tuned: A call for GMs and HQ volunteers for Southern-Fried will be going out soon(ish) once we finalize our space and schedule. If you are interested in helping, keep an eye on the GeorgiaPFS Discord and the Appalachian Region calendar.

🌟 DragonCon 2026 – On the Horizon

DragonCon gets its own big spotlight above because of how critical it is to our regional schedule, but it also belongs here as a key upcoming event. Mark your calendars for September 3-7, 2026 and make plans now to join us downtown for five days of organized play.

If you skipped the announcement section, the short version is simple: we need a lot of GMs and HQ staff, and we need them early. Please take a moment to complete the DragonCon 2026 Volunteer Form if you can help.

🆕 New to Pathfinder or Starfinder Society?

Welcome to organized play! Whether you’re brand new to tabletop RPGs or a veteran player exploring Pathfinder or Starfinder Society for the first time, we’re here to help you get started.

🤗 Safe, Welcoming Tables for All

Everyone is welcome at our tables. Pathfinder and Starfinder Society organized play is committed to providing a safe, fun, and inclusive gaming environment for all participants worldwide. Whether you’re a veteran player, a first-time gamer, young or old, regardless of background, identity, or experience level—there’s a seat at our table for you.

All Pathfinder and Starfinder Society games operate under the Paizo Organized Play Code of Conduct and Community Standards. We expect all participants—players and GMs alike—to treat each other with respect and work together to create positive, memorable gaming experiences.

We do not tolerate: harassment, discrimination, intimidation, unwelcome contact, or behavior that makes anyone feel excluded or threatened. Inappropriate conduct includes, but is not limited to, harassment or discrimination based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender or gender expression/identity, race, religion, sexuality, or any other reason.

If you experience or witness problematic behavior: Please bring it to the attention of the GM, Event Organizer, or any Venture-Officer. You can also contact your local lodge leadership, the Regional Venture-Coordinator, or report directly to Paizo at organizedplay@paizo.com. Your concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.

Our commitment: These standards apply at every organized play table worldwide. We strive to resolve issues at the table level when appropriate, but we will not hesitate to remove anyone whose behavior violates our community standards. Gaming should be fun and welcoming for everyone—that’s the foundation of organized play.

Getting Started Resources:

Don’t have a character yet? No problem! You can use an iconic pregenerated character to try out the game before committing to building your own. Our GMs will have pregens available at the table. If you’d prefer to create your own character, our GMs and volunteers are happy to help—just arrive a little early and let us know you’re new.

❓ Did You Know?

🎁 Achievement Points (AcP): New to Organized Play? You get 80 AcP free on your Paizo Organized Play account to spend on cool boons and character options!

📅 Schedule Changes: Our schedules are subject to change due to GM/Player availability as well as competing events at venues. The best way to keep abreast of these changes is to follow our schedule on our Warhorn event page or our Event Calendar. We attempt to schedule 2 weeks or greater in advance of the game date and to cancel 48 hours or greater in advance when we know of an issue.

As April winds down, our local schedule, convention planning, and regional projects are all moving together. DragonCon recruiting is happening right now, and every GM or HQ volunteer who signs up early gives us more options for what we can offer players in September.

At the same time, we are rolling out new tools like the Game System “Donuts” leaderboard, supporting virtual opportunities like Bridging the Gap, and coordinating with lodges across the Appalachian Region through the hub, calendar, and new social media channels.

Whether you are joining us at a physical venue, logging into Foundry for a virtual game, stepping up for DragonCon, or helping a smaller lodge stay active, thank you for being part of this community.

Game on, Pathfinders—and we will see you at the tables!
