AtlantaPFS Weekly Update
🗓️ June Begins — Big Things Ahead
MomoCon is behind us — thank you to everyone who came out and gamed with us at the Georgia World Congress Center! Now we’re rolling into June with a packed week: two virtual tables, a Wednesday at Manuel’s Tavern, and a Saturday session at The Crazy Book Lady in Acworth.
Big news this week: Fantasy Grounds Starfinder Society games are returning to AtlantaPFS — and we’re starting from the very beginning. Season 1 will be run in full, starting with SFS 1-00. More details below.
And please — if you haven’t signed up to volunteer for DragonCon 2026, read that section. We mean it. ⚔️🌟
📢 Current Announcements & Updates
🌐 Atlanta Lodge Virtual Games – What’s Changing
The VOs who have been running virtual games through the Atlanta lodge are wrapping up their remaining sessions and moving their ongoing presence to the official Organized Play Online Region. If you’ve been playing in those games, the Online Region is a great place to continue — here’s a temp link to their Discord: https://discord.gg/8RY8D7V59. Any questions, reach out to James R.
Virtual play through Atlanta isn’t going away, though. Fantasy Grounds Starfinder Society games are coming back through the lodge soon — more on that below.
This also has no impact on the Columbus lodge’s virtual offerings. Columbus virtual games continue as normal — the shared Warhorn event page serves both lodges independently.
🚀 Fantasy Grounds Starfinder Society – Season 1 From the Beginning!
Great news for Fantasy Grounds fans: SFS games are returning to AtlantaPFS through Fantasy Grounds — and we’re doing it right. We’ll be running Starfinder Society Season 1 in its entirety, starting from the very first scenario: SFS 1-00. Whether you’re brand new to Starfinder Society or a veteran looking to fill in your Season 1 chronicle collection, this is your chance to experience the full arc from the ground up.
Keep an eye on the GeorgiaPFS Discord and Warhorn for session announcements as they’re scheduled. If Fantasy Grounds is your preferred VTT, now is a great time to make sure your software is up to date and your characters are ready.
🐉 DragonCon 2026 – We Are Dead Serious About Needing Volunteers
DragonCon 2026: September 3–7, 2026 — Labor Day Weekend, Atlanta, GA
We are going to be very direct with you: DragonCon is less than 95 days away. We do not have enough volunteers. This is not a drill.
Every table we can’t staff doesn’t get scheduled. Every special we can’t crew doesn’t get offered. The cinematic run of The Battle of Hellknight Hill we’re planning alongside our regular PF2 and SF2 tables? That requires people. Specifically, it requires you.
Here’s what we need:
- GMs — for regular scenarios, the Battle of Hellknight Hill special, and anything in between
- HQ Staff — the people who keep the whole operation running smoothly behind the scenes
- Volunteers willing to give even one or two slots of their DragonCon weekend
DragonCon is our biggest event of the year — five days, thousands of attendees, and our most visible showcase of what this community can do. The only way it lives up to that potential is if people show up to make it happen.
The form takes five minutes. Your commitment changes everything. If you have ever thought about GMing at DragonCon, considered helping at HQ, or wondered if you could make a difference — the answer is yes, and the time is now.
🐉 Sign Up to Volunteer for DragonCon 2026 🐉Questions? Reach out through the GeorgiaPFS Discord or at rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.
🕊️ In Memoriam: Lee McLurkin
We continue to hold space for the memory of Lee McLurkin, whose loss touched so many in our community. A fitting tribute is being prepared for DragonCon later this year, and a memorial will be added to our Hall of Heroes once complete. Our thoughts remain with his family and all who knew him.
🏆 Hall of Heroes
Visit our Hall of Heroes page to honor those we’ve lost from our gaming community.
🎬 Rocky Horror Picture Show Night – Poll Still Open!
We are still collecting availability for our AtlantaPFS outing to The Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Plaza Theatre on Ponce de Leon Avenue. If you haven’t filled out the poll yet, please do — more responses means a better date for everyone.
WhenIsGood: AtlantaPFS Invades the Rocky Horror Picture Show
This social event is open to the wider GeorgiaPFS and Appalachian Region community. Costumes and callbacks are strongly encouraged.
🌄 Regional Roundup – Appalachian Region News
🎉 Morgantown, WV Lodge – Learn to Play Happening Now!
The Morgantown, West Virginia lodge reopening continues to build momentum. Learn to Play sessions are happening this month, with official Pathfinder and Starfinder Society play set to kick off in June at Wyvern’s Rest. If you are in the Morgantown area — or know anyone who is — now is the perfect time to get connected. Reach out through the GeorgiaPFS Discord or contact Joel H for details.
Urgent: Venture-Officer Openings in Chattanooga & Charleston, WV
Two important leadership needs remain open:
- Chattanooga, TN: The Venture-Lieutenant overseeing the Chattanooga lodge has stepped down. The lodge has great bones and a real player community — it needs a dedicated VO to keep the momentum going.
- Charleston, WV: We are actively recruiting to establish a brand-new lodge in the Charleston area. Help build something new and be the reason a whole community of players finds organized play.
Interested in either opportunity? Reach out through the GeorgiaPFS Discord or at rvcapparegionop@gmail.com.
We Need Players and GMs — Especially Here
A few lodges are in particular need of additional support right now:
- Mebane, NC – Tables are running but could use more consistent turnout and GMing support.
- Charlotte, NC – A major metro area that deserves more organized play presence.
- Memphis, TN – Western Tennessee organized play needs both players and GMs to stay visible.
- Nashville, TN – Strong potential, needs more regular GM support to grow the schedule.

📅 Upcoming Events
📚 Free RPG Day 2026 – June 27
Free RPG Day: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Free RPG Day kits must be ordered in advance by the store. If your FLGS does not appear on the Free RPG Day store locator at freerpgday.com/gamers, they are not a participating venue this year. Free RPG Day content can only be run on Free RPG Day itself at a participating venue — or one month later once it clears for general use.
Current local participating stores:
- Giga-Bites Tabletop Cafe (Marietta)
- Level-Up Games – Alpharetta
- Level-Up Games – Duluth
- Level-Up Games – Dawsonville
This list may grow. Always verify with the official store locator and check with your chosen store about their hours and event plans for the day.
🎲 Southern-Fried Gaming Expo 2026
July 31 – August 2, 2026 – The Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center
AtlantaPFS is planning organized play support at Southern-Fried again this year. Details are still being finalized — watch for a GM and HQ volunteer call soon on the GeorgiaPFS Discord and the Appalachian Region calendar.
🌟 DragonCon 2026 – September 3–7 – Volunteers Needed Now
Five days of organized play, thousands of attendees, and our biggest regional showcase of the year. We need GMs and HQ staff — and we need commitments now, not in August. Sign up here. Please.

If you take nothing else from this week’s update, take this: sign up to volunteer for DragonCon. The link is right here and it takes five minutes. The event we want to run at DragonCon depends entirely on having enough people to run it.
