Greetings, Pathfinders and Starfinders,
It has been a while since our last full AtlantaPFS newsletter, and a lot has changed since August 2025. We have seen Venture‑Officers step into new roles, welcomed new organizers and venues, expanded our convention support, and said goodbye to a beloved member of our community. Through all of it, AtlantaPFS endures and continues to grow as a welcoming home for Pathfinder and Starfinder Organized Play in Metro Atlanta and beyond.

Leadership changes and Venture‑Officer updates

Since the last newsletter, our local leadership team has shifted and grown.
  • Joel Hager has moved from Atlanta Venture‑Captain to Regional Venture‑Coordinator for the Appalachian Region, supporting lodges across Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
  • James Reeves has stepped into the role of Venture‑Captain for Atlanta, helping coordinate lodge‑level operations, venue support, and convention planning.
  • Dennis Butler continues as Venture‑Captain for Columbus, overseeing in‑person play there and helping anchor our online presence.
  • Multiple Venture‑Agents now coordinate specific venues, virtual tables, and conventions, while a few long‑time officers have stepped back after years of service to focus on other parts of their lives.
If you are interested in helping organize games at your favorite venue or convention, the best way to start is by GMing regularly and talking with your local Venture‑Captain or Venture‑Agent about where help is most needed.
You can always find the current list of officers and their responsibilities in the latest “AtlantaPFS Weekly Update & Games Schedule” posts on the website.

Updated venues: where we play now

Our venue network has continued to evolve as stores open, close, or adjust their gaming schedules. Recent changes mean a few older locations have dropped off the schedule, while newer venues have become regular homes for tables.
Right now, our Atlanta‑area in‑person play focuses on venues such as:
  • Giga‑Bites Cafe (Marietta) – coordinated by Brienne S.
  • Titan Games & Comics (Smyrna) – currently seeking a coordinator.
  • Hobbytown USA (Kennesaw) – coordinated by Will D.
  • Manuel’s Tavern (Atlanta) – coordinated by Boo F.
  • East Atlanta Comics Dice City (Atlanta) – coordinated by Josh C.
  • Battle & Brew (Sandy Springs) – currently seeking a coordinator.
  • Level‑Up Games (Dawsonville) – coordinated by Steve H.
  • Level‑Up Games (Johns Creek) – coordinated by Jamey D.
  • The Crazy Book Lady (Acworth) – coordinated by Alex H.
Columbus‑area play continues at Moxie Games, coordinated by Dennis B.
The current venue list, including links and coordinators, is kept up to date in the weekly update and on the “Venues Where We Play” page. If you want to see where tables are running this week, that is the best place to start.

Conventions we support

AtlantaPFS continues to grow its convention presence, both at long‑running events and newer shows.
Our recent and planned convention support includes:
  • MomoCon
  • Southern‑Fried Gaming Expo
  • DragonCon
  • Anime Weekend Atlanta
  • Local game‑day style events such as Marietta the Gathering and other regional shows as they come onto the calendar.
We are focusing our convention energy on events where we have strong volunteer interest, good relationships with organizers, and space to showcase Pathfinder and Starfinder Organized Play.
Watch the AtlantaPFS site, the weekly updates, and the GeorgiaPFS Discord for specific volunteer calls, self‑scheduling forms, and scenario line‑ups for each convention as dates approach.

In memoriam: a beloved lodge member

In February, we lost one of our prolific and well‑known players and GMs, Lee McLurkin. His presence at the table, his love of the game, and the way he welcomed people into the community made a lasting impression on many of us.
We will be sharing more about Lee at DragonCon and on the site, including a Hall of Heroes entry to honor his contributions to the lodge. If you would like to share a short remembrance, favorite table story, or photo for that memorial, please reach out to Joel or your local Venture‑Officer so that we can collect those contributions.

AtlantaPFS endures

Despite leadership transitions, venue changes, convention growth, and personal loss, the heart of AtlantaPFS remains the same. We are still a volunteer‑driven lodge of tabletop RPG enthusiasts who care about welcoming new players, supporting our venues, and building a respectful, inclusive space for Pathfinder and Starfinder Organized Play.
Here are a few simple ways you can help the lodge thrive right now:
  • Check the weekly update for the current game schedule and sign up for tables that need players or GMs.
  • Talk to your Venture‑Agent or Venture‑Captain if you are ready to GM more regularly or help coordinate a venue or event.
  • Watch for convention volunteer calls for MomoCon, DragonCon, Southern‑Fried Gaming Expo, Anime Weekend Atlanta, and other shows, and claim slots early when you can.
  • Share the AtlantaPFS site, Discord, and Warhorn links with friends who might enjoy Organized Play, especially people who are new to the area or returning to Pathfinder or Starfinder after a break.
AtlantaPFS endures because you keep showing up, rolling dice, stepping behind the screen, and welcoming new adventurers to the table. Thank you for everything you have already done and for everything you will do in the months ahead.
If there is something you would like to see in future newsletters—GM tips, player spotlights, convention prep guides, or “how Organized Play works behind the scenes”—let me know, and we can build it into the next update.
